How to Use Easy Document Maker
This guide explains the main screens in the app, including the document list, new document screen, editor, PDF preview, settings, backups, and purchases.
Contents
Documents
The Documents tab shows the documents you have created.
- Tap the plus button to create a new document.
- Tap a document to open the editor.
- Your edits are saved automatically as you work.
- Deleting a document cannot be undone. A confirmation alert is shown before deletion.
Saved PDFs are managed separately from documents. Deleting a document does not automatically delete PDFs that were already saved.
New Document
When creating a document, choose the title, paper size, and paper orientation.
- The title is used in the document list and as the default PDF name.
- You can choose A4, B5, Letter, or Legal paper size.
- You can choose portrait or landscape orientation.
After creation, the document editor opens. Paper size and orientation can be changed later from document settings.
Document Editor
The editor lets you build a document by arranging rows and blocks. It is an editing screen for the source document, not a direct PDF editor.
- Use the plus button to add text, headings, images, tables, spacing, dividers, page breaks, and other blocks.
- Use the PDF button to open the PDF preview.
- Drag the handle on the left side to reorder rows.
- Use the column control on the left side to change the layout to 1, 2, 3, or 4 columns and adjust ratios.
- Tap a cell to open the appropriate editor for its content.
- Tap an empty cell to choose what to insert.
- Long-press a cell to change its content or clear it.
New rows are added to the end of the document. To insert content in the middle, add a row and then move it using the handle.
Text and Headings
Text and heading blocks let you edit both the content and its appearance.
- Enter or edit the body text.
- Change the font size.
- Turn bold or italic on and off.
- Choose left, center, or right alignment.
- Choose text color and background color.
- Select a font.
- Change line spacing.
- Adjust the inner padding of the cell.
Heading blocks start with a larger, bold style. You can still change their settings later like regular text blocks.
Images
The image editor lets you select an image and adjust how it appears in the document.
- Tap the image area to choose an image from your photo library.
- Replace a selected image at any time.
- Adjust image height with a numeric value.
- Fit shows the entire image.
- Fill fills the frame with the image.
- Add a caption.
- Adjust background color and cell padding.
If an image cannot be loaded, check photo permissions, iCloud Photos download status, and network conditions. Opening the image in the Photos app first may help.
Tables
Tables can be added as full-width rows. You can edit text and colors in each table cell.
- Select a cell and use Cell Editing to enter text.
- Change font size, bold, italic, horizontal alignment, vertical alignment, text color, background color, and line spacing.
- Add or delete rows and columns.
- Adjust row heights and column widths.
- Merge and unmerge cells.
- Adjust table margin, cell padding, border color, and border width.
To merge cells, tap the merge button, then choose the start cell and end cell. If the selected range cannot be merged, the app shows an error instead of applying an invalid merge.
Spacing, Dividers, and Page Breaks
Use spacing, dividers, and page breaks to adjust the structure and appearance of your document.
- Spacing creates blank space with a specified height.
- Spacing blocks can have a background color.
- Dividers support thickness, style, color, and surrounding padding.
- Divider styles include solid, dashed, and dotted.
- A page break moves following content to the next page when generating the PDF.
The editor is optimized for editing. Check the final page layout in PDF Preview.
PDF Preview
Tap the PDF button in the editor to generate and preview a PDF.
- The PDF is generated from the current document content.
- Pages are shown horizontally so page breaks are easy to check.
- You can save, share, or print the PDF.
- Saved PDFs appear in the PDF tab.
A saved PDF stores the content at the time it was saved. Editing the original document later does not update old PDFs automatically. Save the PDF again if you want to keep the updated version.
PDF List
The PDF tab shows PDFs saved inside the app.
- Tap a PDF to view it.
- Share a PDF.
- Print a PDF.
- Delete a PDF.
- If the source document still exists, you can open it from the PDF list.
PDF files cannot be edited directly. To make changes, open the source document, edit it, and save a new PDF.
Settings
The Settings tab includes remove ads, restore purchases, backups, default document settings, and support links.
- Remove ads with a one-time in-app purchase.
- Restore previous purchases.
- Export and restore backups.
- Change default settings for newly added blocks.
- Open Help, Contact, Terms, and Privacy Policy.
Backup and Restore
Backups export your documents, images, saved PDFs, and settings as a ZIP file.
- Export a backup and save it using the system share sheet.
- Restore a backup to add its documents and PDFs to the app.
- Existing documents and PDFs are not deleted during restore.
- If a PDF with the same name already exists, it is imported with a different name.
Before changing devices or reinstalling the app, export a backup and keep it in a safe place.
Remove Ads
The free version shows ads. You can remove ads with a one-time purchase from the Settings tab.
- Remove Ads is a non-consumable purchase.
- After purchase, banner ads and ads shown during PDF save, share, and print actions are removed.
- After reinstalling the app or using another device, use Restore Purchase.
Purchases and restores are processed through the App Store.
Troubleshooting
The PDF looks slightly different from the editor
The editor is a practical preview for editing. Use PDF Preview to check final paper layout and page breaks.
I cannot select or display an image
Check photo library permissions, iCloud Photos download status, and network conditions. Trying another image can help identify the cause.
I want to edit a saved PDF
PDFs cannot be edited directly. Open the source document, edit it, and save the PDF again.
